World Economic Forum on Latin America - Cartagena, Colombia

For almost a decade, Latin America has enjoyed more stable and on average more positive economic growth than in past decades. However, one-fourth of the population still lives on two dollars a day with limited access to basic services and infrastructure. Latin American countries also face the global challenges of building a solid financial architecture, providing quality education for all, developing clean and diversified sources of energy and sustainably using natural resources. While consensus is emerging in the region on the need to preserve and strengthen democracies, there is no consensus on how to reduce poverty and inequality. To shape the fundamentals of a new development cycle, a redesign in regional cooperation is needed which is based on enlightened values and mutual trust.

World Economic Forum on Africa - Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

The economic crisis has led to a reassessment of the systems governing global cooperation, financial architecture and policies linked to trade and climate change, and is a wake-up call to speed up implementation of long-discussed reforms. In this complex and evolving landscape, emerging markets, including those from Africa, are among the first to show signs of a recovery and are forecast to increasingly contribute to global growth in the next decade. How are leaders rising to the challenge and using the crisis as an opportunity to redesign a sustainable roadmap for Africa’s future within the new global economy?

At this important juncture, Tanzania hosts the 20th World Economic Forum on Africa, held for the first time in East Africa. In addition, the Forum’s Young Global Leaders Summit will be held concurrently in Dar es Salaam and will integrate over 200 of the world’s top young leaders in the meeting. Discussions will address how African nations are managing relations with key economic partners, with an increasing trend towards greater South-South cooperation. As Africa joins India and China in crossing the billion person mark, its young population, natural resources and market potential are catalysts for significant future growth and development.

Global Redesign Summit 2010 - Doha, Qatar

The Global Redesign Summit in Doha will focus on proposals for improved international cooperation. More than 1,200 of these leaders from the academic, policy, business and non-governmental communities have been working as part of the Forum's Global Agenda Councils. A brainstorming of more than 700 experts was held in Dubai in November 2009 while the whole Forum network, including industry groups, Young Global Leaders and Social Entrepreneurs, have also contributed ideas. In parallel these discussions have run through the Forum's Regional and other Summits.

World Economic Forum on East Asia - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

East Asia's lead in the global economic recovery has been underscored by increasing regional economic cooperation, robust domestic consumption and coordinated government stimulus measures. Alongside the remarkable economic momentum and progress of China and India, ASEAN's market of 580 million consumers is moving towards economic integration by 2015. As the chair of ASEAN in 2010, Vietnam is the ideal location to discuss how leaders across East Asia will collaborate to achieve a sustainable economic recovery and ensure the region's future competitiveness. At the same time, ongoing global risks such as climate change and gaps in global governance speak to the need to rethink and edesign both regional and global cooperation on key challenges.

The programme for the 19th World Economic Forum on East Asia will explore the many facets of the region's rising economic influence such as how high-growth economies can improve their competitiveness through developing innovation driven, green economies. At the same time, the discussions will consider to what extent ongoing regional integration will serve as the basis for Asian leaders to assume a greater leadership role in global cooperation.
